This is the moment we have all been waiting for....the progression of the movie theatre. I am so excited for this as many of you are and I definitely know "the boys" are ready to get this show on the road-Literally, haha!!! Bonnie Char, she has done and incredible job taking the interior to a whole new era. The Historic Theatre has a slogan, "Historic Experience, with today's entertainment" will resignate throughout the building.
I want to give a special THANK YOU!! to Bonnie for being so patient with us. The boys have really had to let this be her job. I think it funny when the boys try to be decoratively creatvie. :) I am not saying men can't do it, but Bonnie has really had the patience and vision to take this Theatre to the next level.. You go GIRL!!!
Sheetrock is done, tape and texture is set and cabinets have been ordered. I will do my best to get you all pictures this weekend of the progression...In the meantime, this whole process, through the thick and the thin has been a learning experience and I can only hope we live up to the communities expectation and high hopes of bringing something fantastic to the community--
I need to put a SHOUT OUT----to Dr. Kevin Stein..He is in China doing some teaching and I hope he is following us across the world-Dr. Stein, you just might make it home in time for the Grand Opening...:)
Thanks again and we will chat soon.

Cedar City Theatre was est. in 1919 and suffered a fire and lived to tell about it. "The Boys" as they are known will reconstruct it to its original frame and open a new cinema that will be worthy of anybody's pocketbook.

Loyal Followers!!

I wanted to take time to get "personal" again. I want to first say thank you for all your support, it has really meant a lot to me. I have really enjoyed interracting with you and getting to know you. But as many of you know I where many hats..I am a MOM, WIFE, Business Owner (Raindance Cleaners, Car wash), Full-time Student at SUU, friend, etc.... So I am relinquishing my passion of this Theatre to the newest Employee of Cedar Theatre..Lori has a great resume and has the vision the theatre needs to meet the needs of the Cedar City Community.
The theatre has a new facebook page she has created and if you could go on facebook and like her page it will really give her the support she needs to move forward with this great adventure.
"HISTORIC CEDAR THEARE" is the official name of the Theatre. Right now as I type the sheetrock is being hung. Bonnie Char has picked out great colors and is picking out the lighting and getting everything ready to go. It is prospected date to open is in 6 weeks--WOW!! That will go so quickly.
Be assured that those of you who have "liked" MY facebook page will have the invites for the Facebook "soft" grand opening. Lori is well aware of your love and support to this Theatre. Infact, I am creating the address book now and getting ready to have the "boys" design the postcards to be sent out to all of our Facebook supporters. We will also have a community grand opening and open house.
And I want to remind you that the Historic Theatre will give you a "Historic Experience, with Today's Entertainment".
PS: The blog I will keep so I hope to keep the blog filled with my thougths, ideas and pictures of the great events..
Thanks again,

SHEETROCK!!!
I have been so excited to write this portion of the blog this morning!!! I was talking to Kyle and I was asking him how the Theatre was coming. I was sure I was going to get a "sigh" response and receive some sort of discouragement--but it was the OPPOSITE!! So much so that I can't wait...I am sure, like most of you are so EXCITED!! Sheetrock, as I write is being delivered into the theatre. Painting, Tile, etc will be done next week. I am telling you, once we got past some headaches these "boys" know how to work. Kyle told me last night that him and Kolby were strapping on their belts today and going to work...
Oh the ideas, the thoughts, the passion and adrenaline that runs through my head at night. I hope the vision surpasses everything you faithfull supporters have been hoping for..
Thank you again..

It's Been Awhile!!!
Hello to all my fellow bloggers...I looked at the date on this and shame on me. I guess I will admit and have to put a disclaimer in this blog before I continue:
This BLOG is a PRIVATE blog-The opinions of this blog are not necessarily the opinions of the owners or those affliated with the Cedar City Theatre. This blog is for pure entertainment and for a little insight to the happenings of this Theatre.
I guess I needed to put that because the reason I haven't written in a while is we had a little bit a frustrating time with the city. We applied for RDA money, which is to benefit the downtown and to restore the history of the downtown city. Actually we were approved and then when it came time to need it the city shut us down--I am "sure" they have their reasons but I took a little break to cool off...
But today "the boys" are hard at it again and expecting another final this week. We were at the Business Expo this weekend finding out what movies people would like to see and I don't know how much information was truly gathered but I will be posting a survey later this week and if you are interested in helping us out, we are definitely interested in hearing what you have to say. This has been such a great experience of creativity and I can't wait until Bonnie Char gets her hands on it and makes it beautiful.
Once again, I appreciate all your support and love for the downtown. On a funny note-Our lights keep coming on during the day-they are actually set on a timer for the night-maybe there is some GHOST happenings going on. haha
Happy Movie going!!!

Southern Utah TV
I had an interesting experience today and thought I'd share it. It's really no biggie but it was fun. I am going to be on TV. Crazy, I know but it wasn't as bad as I thought. And all these communication classes I have been taking have really turned out alright. I worked really hard on not using "FILLER" words like "UM, LIKE, "etc. Dr. Stein would have been proud-if only I could pass his tests :) hahaha.. But overall Kiera the Broadcasting Major who did the interview was very sweet and made it very comfortable for me. Infact, she told me NO ONE watches SUTV so that made me feel even better. But overall it was a good experience and since my new motto in life is to "try something hard or different everyday" I can say I accomplished this today.
Movie theatre is coming along nicely. Slow and steady wins the race. There is no OFFICIAL opening day and soon I will have a list of Thank You's of all the people who have been a great Support and Positive reinforcement to this project.

NEW Discount Theatre in TOWN!!
I can't help but feel the need to respond to a recent comment that has been left by a community follower of the blog. He brought up the New Discount Theatre at Fiddler's and I thought I would give you a little back ground and insight. I hope this helps...You can also read his comment on the last Blog post (Thank you Kevin Stein).
Westates Theatre's is a prominent theatre here in Cedar City. I have not lived here long enough to know or even understand why they shut down the "Twin Theatre". And that really isn't even the issue. But to settle the communities minds we new this was coming back in early January. "The boys" spoke to Westates owner and Westates threw out his threats to us and has even sent us a letter that offered a lawsuit if we try to compete with him. :) We have Attorney's lined up and are not afraid of a fair fight. We don't feel we are competing with him but he is scared-we do know that. Westates has even said they would hold their movies longer so that we would not have access to them.
But what I can tell you is that everyone loves a FIRST RUN movie. Kyle and I go and support Westates almost every weekend. That is our date night. We love the movies. I don't believe they are going to lose out on business on the first run-unless we offer more personable, friendly service :) We really aren't trying to compete with them. Our vision and love for this "Historic Theatre" is to bring back the downtown. Yes, we want it to be profitable and hopefully the community will sense our desire to offer an EXPERIENCE at the movie Theatre for their families.
It is kind of funny after all these years they finally adjusted their Theatre to make it more affordable for the community but just know we are not interested in boycotting anyone. I mean that is how America was founded-Capitalism. Good clean business fun.
So with our heads and hearts held high we will move forward--and like I tell my girls, "We can act like the step-sisters on Cinderalla or we can act like Cinderella-with grace and poise and move forward, never looking back.
Thank you for the comment Mr. Stein and thank you for your concern.
Everyone have a great Presiden'ts Day Weekend--Pictures coming soon!!!
